Speciality Occupational Therapy Services

  • SPLINTING

    Our occupational therapist has received extra training in splinting for the hand, wrist, and elbow. Splints can be custom for the specific needs of each patient or they can be prefabricated.

    Custom splinting techniques are used for impairments such as post surgical, fractures, arthritis, ligament/tendon injuries, nerve injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome and contractures. A splint is used to support, immobilize, or protect the arm or hand. Splints can also be used to support function, assist and/or increase range of motion.

  • ZONES OF REGULATION

    The Zones of Regulation® is a social emotional curriculum that teaches children early emotional skills and advances to self regulation and navigation of social situations.

    Children develop awareness of feelings and energy levels through four colored zones. Children then learn tools and strategies for regulation and prosocial behaviors across a variety of settings including home and school. This curriculum is implemented during occupational therapy sessions and is appropriate for children 5 years and older.

  • Dynamic Movement Intervention

    Dynamic Movement Intervention is the fastest growing, internationally recognized manual therapy technique that helps children reach their gross motor milestones. DMI harnesses the power of neuroplasticity to make rapid, long lasting changes in a child’s brain so they can learn new skills, reach their developmental milestones, and improve their quality of life in accordance with the ICF (International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health, WHO) framework.
